Many people now believe there is no need to for anyone to use cash -- electronic transactions all that are needed. A cashless society would be safer, more convenient, more cost effective and more moral.
Concepts for Restoring Individual Liberty and Freedom
What are the implications of a cashless society? What does it mean for the individual in terms of convenience, privacy and security?
If convenience is never having to carry cash or go to the ATM and having every transaction carried out instantly over the internet, then yes the cashless society is convenient.
If privacy is having someone in the Government know where you as an individual spend every dollar, euro, or yen then the cashless society is not a problem. If privacy means Government having the ability to instantly tax every transaction based upon computer database then privacy is not a problem.
If security is not being robbed of cash but being unable to buy anything anywhere because the computer system has a bug or power is out or someone hacked your account or the Government freezes your assets or due to a cyber attack then you are secure. If security is never having a few dollars tucked away for an emergency then you are secure.
If Liberty is not being able to give your child a dollar from the tooth fairy or a couple bucks to a homeless person or buy something discretely then you have Liberty.
If Freedom is not being able to buy a magazine or donate to an unpopular organization or support a group opposed to a Government program then you have Freedom.
Money - that entity that Individuals choose as a medium of exchange - is nothing but an extension of the Individual. It arose outside of Government, it is does not need Government to define it or control it. Government however knows that when you control the money you can control the People. Government an money must be separated.
